Creative Writing

As I lay awake at 2:25 I had not heard anything yet. My brother laid asleep next me and I remember trying to wake him up, but nothing seemed to work. It was like trying to move a 500 pound bolder and there was nothing getting him out of bed.  I soon started drifting slowly back to sleep, convincing myself that all these sounds I claim to hear are just my imagination and maybe I was over reacting. Once my eyes were shut and I was half asleep I suddenly heard a loud creek in the staircase. I sat up quickly and looked at the clock; it had just hit 2:30. It was almost as if someone was coming up the stairs. My heart was beating faster and faster and I began to sweat like I had just gotten done running in a track meet. I quickly went to my parent’s room to see if they were awake or heard anything. They were sound asleep and by then the noise had come to a Holt. There was no way I could get back to sleep, I decided to take a chance and head downstairs to see what was going on.

I gently creep downstairs and my heart was practically beating out of my chest at this point. Suddenly the phone rang and I quickly answered after jumping from the obnoxiously loud ring. “Hello,” the voice was really deep with a low pitch. “Get out of the….,” I waited for the end of that sentence but there was nothing. The phone line had been cut and I was getting more and more nervous by the second. There was a loud bang outside in the garage and just before I went to see what it was the light came on. I was startled and jerked my head back quickly to see who it was. My brother came downstairs and looked terrified. “What was that?” he said. I honestly did not have the answer and we both headed to the garage to check it out.

I slowly opened the door to the garage and peeked in but I could see nothing the light was off. I walked in making my way towards the light switch. Just as this was about to happen I felt a tug on my shirt, and soon I was on the ground rolling around screaming. I could feel the solid figure on top of me and I tried so desperately to break free but it was impossible. My brother was still standing near the door and didn’t know what to do. He stood there for a second and panicked. Then we quickly rushed to the light switch not knowing what had happened to me. I was still on the ground in a lot of pain as the light came on. There on top of me stood a ignoramus raccoon that had been in our house for several days. It’s eyes were a dark yellow like the sun right before dawn. It’s teeth were like razor blades and it was not at all what we thought we’d see. My brother opened the garage and it quickly ran away into the woods. I was finally relived.
